The Bereavement Ministry is called upon when there is a death in the parish community. The family of the deceased is contacted immediately and a meeting is arranged, so the Bereavement Minister can extend the condolences of the parish and help the family plan a funeral liturgy that will be a source of comfort and strength.
Each year around All Souls' Day a special liturgy also is held to remember all those from the St. Luke community who died in the previous year. The families of the deceased are invited to participate in this special Mass. Bereavement Ministers are present and give any assistance needed.
We grieve with all the bereaved in their loss. Each life is precious; each death a sorrow. The Bereavement Ministry exists to express that grief in a personal way and to offer practical help.
